Tankless Water Heaters

Are Tankless Water Heaters Worth It?

The short answer – YES! On-demand water heating saves money in the long run. According to Energy.gov, “For homes that use 41 gallons or less of hot water daily, demand (or tankless) water heaters can be 24%–34% more energy efficient than conventional storage tank water heaters.”

They are also built to last longer than a traditional hot water tank.  Warranties on heat exchangers are typically in the 12-15 year range, while traditional tank water heaters typically come with 6, 9, or 12-year warranties.

The Southern Tier's On-Demand Water Heater Specialists!

Are you considering an energy-efficient tankless water heater for your home? Good idea!

Tankless water heaters use the latest in gas technology. Also known as on-demand water heaters or instant water heaters, they heat hot water on-demand and deliver hot water as long as you need it. Tankless water heaters afford personalized control for your convenience, comfort and safety. You'll quickly fall in love with having hot water at a steady temperature whenever you need it. Not to mention the savings...

You don't use hot water 24 hours a day, so why should you pay to heat it? Standard water heaters do just that. While you sleep at night, your standard water heater is heating and reheating the same water. That can cost you hundreds to thousands of wasted dollars a year. Tankless water heaters can be particularly beneficial for a smaller house and family size that doesn't have much hot water demand or has alternate ways to heat the home like ductless mini-split systems.

Pros and Cons of Tankless Water Heating Systems

Like any appliance, tankless water heaters have their advantages and disadvantages. Advantages of tankless water heaters include energy efficiency (they're a more eco-friendly option than traditional tanks and can save you money on energy bills!), being much smaller than a traditional hot water heater, and of course, unlimited, on-demand hot water!

The main disadvantage of tankless heaters is that they can't keep up with large load demands, such as running multiple appliances at once. As such, they might not be the best option for larger homes, or multiple units might be needed to keep up with demand.
